When your friends refer to me as “your girl”

How one kiss can make all my butterflies and nerves go away

Tonight was probably one of the scariest moments of my life. About a half hour until Charming Charlie closed I heard a loud thudand assumed that some necklaces fell over or something similar. But when I walked over I saw a young girl shaking violently on the ground. She was having a seizure right in front of me. I had no idea what to do except say “A girl is having a seizure in 3 and 4, someone call 911!” One of my managers saw what was happening and tried to find her parents by yelling “Does anyone have a daughter with brown hair because she’s having a seizure”. The dad comes running yelling “shit shit shit” and I’m just trying to remain as calm as possible and get customers away from the area. I tried asking the dad a few questions about his daughter because my manager was on the phone with 911 and they needed to know a few things. Apparently it was her 16th birthday and she just came from having dinner with her family at the Cheesecake Factory. But she’s allergic to tree nuts and there was probably some in her food which caused the seizure. She had told her mom that she was feeling dizzy in our store and walked over to my section.

For the 60-90 seconds where she was shaking I was so afraid and scared. I kept asking myself if I should try to stop the shaking or try to open her mouth so she wouldn’t choke on her tongue. I was completely frozen while this 16 year old couldn’t stop her convulsions. I kept it together while the paramedics and police officer asked me questions and took down my information but I’m still in a state of shock.

Life is so precious and we can be so fragile.
